I just sent my editor my acknowledgments, but they're worth repeating here, especially because I can put links!

This book owes a tremendous debt to my editor, Kim Aippersbach, who helped me take it from a loose and self-indulgent attempt at literature to the much punchier story it is now; and to my publisher, Michael Katz, who had faith enough to publish it.

Emma Bull and Will Shetterly, and the other members of the Sacred Flying House, gave me many more wise words of advice early in the book’s journey.

This book comes out of my love for E. B. White’s Once and Future King, which my father read to me when I was a boy, and John Boorman’s film Excalibur, which made Morgan le Fay real to me.My understanding of post-Roman Britain and the history behind King Arthur comes most strongly from Geoffrey Ashe, in particular his Discovery of King Arthur.

A visit to Butser Ancient Farm in Hampshire, England, provided the four-horned sheep and the chimneyless huts. Morgan’s magic comes out of spiritual questing I did many years ago. I want to thank Christine R and the other members of Homecoming for their spiritual gifts.

The Celtic cult of the war goddess, reconstructed in the Din Tagell chapters, comes out of the doctorate research my first wife, Angel Gulermovich, did. Her dissertation, War Goddess: The Morrígan and her Germano-Celtic Counterparts, is pretty cool stuff. You can find it if you hunt around the Internet a bit.
